This series of publications provide valuable information on the ancestors who worked on the Ceylon Civil Service. These extracts have been compiled from the bound volumes found at the Sri Lanka Archives.
The Ceylon Civil List is a great source of information about ones ancestors who served in the administrative services of the colonial government. The list was compiled and published over a period of time. The reading rooms of the Sri Lanka National Archives contains leather bound volumes from approximately 1800. The contents of the books vary from the early editions which contain mostly European names to the ones of the later periods which give information on the careers of the local people who made the grades in the Civil Service.
