The book is modelled on the line of similar books produced in many countries and chronicles the life and times of 50 key individuals whose contributions have made a significant impact on Sri Lanka. The very first such book called Who’s Who of Ceylon has been published in 1928. This book follows a similar line, referring to many great families of the post war era.
Amongst the names covered are Lionel Wendt, the De Soyza families, the Perera Abeywardena families of Galle, Ray Wijewardena, Devar Surya Sena, R. L. Spittle, Sri Chandrasekera, George E De Silva, Montegue Jayawickrama and many others. The personalities are a mixture of business elites and brilliant intellectuals be it in arts or science.
The book is compiled by Chandrabhanu Samaraweera of Pannipitiya who is planning for a second edition covering more notables.
